Ryan is a trombonist, composer, and arranger based in Southern California. Currently studying jazz performance and composition, he brings a steady, detail-oriented approach to the trombone and a developing musical voice shaped by jazz tradition, Latin influences, and contemporary performance practice. His sound is informed by the lineage of artists such as Conrad Herwig, Elliot Mason, J.J. Johnson, and Raul de Souza, whose phrasing and creative direction continue to guide his growth.

Ryan performs regularly throughout San Diego in jazz combos, big bands, horn sections, and commercial music settings. His work includes appearances at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park with Gilbert Japan, and performances/events/sessions as all throughout Southern California These opportunities have contributed to a broad performance background in his career, spanning both local and international stages.

In addition to performing, Ryan writes and arranges for small groups, drawing on a mix of bebop language, Brazilian rhythmic concepts, and modern harmonic approaches. He remains committed to expanding his musicianship through ongoing study, collaboration, and practical experience in a variety of musical environments.
